England Hockey have just announced that, following updated COVID-19 government guidance issued on 1st December, there are additional travel restrictions for hockey matches.
In short, those of us in Tier 2 areas should not travel to Tier 3 areas, and can only travel to hockey within our own area, and to matches in other Tier 1 and Tier 2 areas, independently or within our household/support bubble group. That is, we should not share a car outside those groups. This will seriously compromise all clubs’ ability to fulfil league fixtures and is likely to mean that only VERY local matches will be possible.
Junior hockey is exempt, including adult helpers, as long as safer travel guidance is followed. At the moment, EH are planning to continue with their Junior Championships but we are awaiting further information on that before confirming.
The full EH statement is available here.
