Under 10 Girls bring home the spoils from the Essex Regional Qualifiers of the Eastern Region In 2 Hockey Competition at Redbridge Sports Centre on Sunday 11th March.
Playing all 4 of their matches back to back without a break Chelmsford beat Waltham Forest 2-0, Old Lougtonians 2-0, drawing 1-1 with Blue Hornets and winning their final match against Crosstyx 2- 0 and thus topped the competion in first place, the first U10G side to do so for 6 years now! So well done to all the girls selected.
The team played exceptionally well with great flair, some displays of wonderful individual skill and as a unit with commitment and determination, particularly when fatigue caught the girls up in their demanding match against the Blue Hornetts who’d rested the previous game.
As Academy Coach, Jo Baker, said to all parents and team members
“I am so incredibly proud of their hard work; the way they listened and responded to advice; and to their support for each other when on and off the pitch. They have developed into great hockey players but also great team mates and I am so excited to be working with them.”
This was a fantastic achievement for the team who all have had to train hard for their inclusion in the Academy squad, such is the level of competition for places in the U10 girls at present.
Keep up the good work U10G Squad as some of the girls that narrowly missed out on selection this time will get the opportunity to impress the coaches to be included in the Squad of 10 to play in the Eastern Regional Finals which are set to be held at Harleston Magpies Hockey Club, Harleston, Norfolk on Saturday 28th April.
