We started the match off ready & raring. With Chelmsford having majority of possession, we worked well as a team, fighting for every ball. An opportunity arose when we were awarded a short corner. Karen made a powerful slap on goal, which was deflected into the net by a defender, making it 1-0.

Maldon came back strongly with a counter attack, driving across the D and despite good defending equalized the score.

With the first half drawing a close, Henney drove the ball into the D, through quick passes between the midfield and the attackers, putting us a point ahead during half time.

Our goalie Rhiannon also made some excellent saves in the first half: after having saved a lifted ball towards the upper corner. Rhiannon also managed to keep another ball from crossing the goal line, even though she was already lying on the floor.

The second half started off strongly for both teams, with each side achieving multiple short corners. However, none of these were converted.

Maldon broke through and made a great hit from the top of the D into the goal. This made our team refocus and make some good decisions. A side line in their 23 and a quick accurate pass from Nadia resulted in the winning goal from Abi.

The match ended with Maldon winning a short corner in the last minute, which, luckily did not result in a goal.
