All players are expected to provide any other hockey related playing kit themselves, although please note the following:
- Hockey Sticks – for new players the club holds a limited stock that can be lent for a short period whilst the player obtains their own stick.
- Penalty Corner protective face masks – the club endeavours to provide face masks for any junior players, although we encourage the purchase of their own if they regularly play senior hockey in a defensive position.
For all senior players at 3rd XI level and above the club expects them to provide their own masks.
Chelmsford HC Junior Section Protective Equipment Policy
There is a huge array of protective equipment available and individual players are free to make decisions on their use. However, the club policy is as set out below. We strongly recommend the use of gum shields and shin pads. Without these, players may be prohibited from some activities at the discretion of the coach.
We strongly recommend the use of face masks for players involved in defending short corners at U14, U16, U18 and senior hockey level. We consider face masks particularly important at defending corners in indoor hockey and they will be provided by the club for indoor tournaments.
We recommend protective hand gloves for indoor hockey.
Chelmsford HC Goalkeeper Kit Policy
It is Chelmsford Hockey Club’s preference that all Senior Goal Keepers own their own equipment. On the grounds of hygiene, upkeep and to promote the best physical fit possible. We recognise that such an undertaking comes at a high cost to the player and as such have made a number of provisions outlined in our GK kit policy document to help mitigate this.
For junior keepers equipment will be provided, but the kit stays with the age group squad once the player moves up through the club.
