Jane Ardener

David KitchinerNews

It is with great sadness that the club announces that Jane Ardener died after a long illness on Tuesday, 20th September, surrounded by her family at home.

Jane first came to the club via a “Back to Hockey” session in 2017 and became an active and integral member of the Ladies 7th and 8th XI for a number of years, first stepping up to the role of vice-captain for the 2018/19 season. She had been diagnosed with terminal cancer before joining the club, but didn’t let this get in the way of throwing herself into every aspect she could. Jane maintained a positive and cheery disposition throughout, and indeed the only time she could ever be heard complaining was to her captain after she’d exceeded the pre-agreed number of minutes she’d be playing on match day!

She was well known of course to her teammates in the Ladies 7th and 8th XI’s, but also through training with the Men’s Evergreens and many other members of the club by taking part in both of the Mixed 7’s tournaments over the last two summers and the first Super 7’s.

She will be very fondly remembered as a brave, positive and inspirational individual, whose love for the game and her team-mates will be always remembered.

Funeral details will be published when available.
