Congratulations to former Chelmsford Hockey Club men’s 1st XI player/coach, Craig “Ned” Fulton, who today has been announced as the new Head Coach of India’s men’s national team ahead of next year’s Paris Olympics.
Fulton, a former South African international and Olympian (Atlanta 1996 and Athens 2004), was with Chelmsford between 1999 and 2005, taking over as 1st XI coach from Dave Passmore, leading the team to an unprecedented 5th place finish in The English Hockey League Premier Division before moving to Pembroke Wanderers, Dublin in 2005. After short terms assisting with both the men’s and women’s South African national teams and the Ireland men’s team, Fulton was appointed Ireland men’s Head Coach in 2014, leading them to third place in the 2015 EuroHockey National Championship and qualification for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics and 2018 World Cup.
Since 2018 Fulton has been assistant coach to the Belgium men’s national team, winning the 2018 World Cup and gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
This announcement follows the recent appointment of Dave Passmore as USA women’s national team Head Coach.
All at Chelmsford Hockey Club wish “Ned” every success in this challenging new role.
