Another league match at home and this time against Wapping 8s who brought a young and enthusiastic team down to Chelmsford.
With a full squad and with a sizeable crowd watching on, the L7s were ready for the challenge ahead. Nell scored a wonderful solo goal beating a player and dispatching the ball into the corner of the goal. There was nearly a second but after an amazing goal line scramble the Wapping keeper managed to put the ball out for a long corner.
Tony Cole kindly gave the half time team-talk and spent the rest of the match on the side line coaching.
Our defence and midfield stood strong and worked very hard to keep the Wapping attackers from entering the D.
Karen scored from a penalty corner and the 7s had doubled their lead to 2-0.
Goalkeeper Gill came out and made a vital interception, the team continued working hard and were finally rewarded for all their efforts when the final whistle went and their first win of the season.
Player of the match went to Jessica Harrison, special mentions to Rebecca for her non-stop running, Henri who had a great first adult match and ended up losing the skin on her knees, goalkeeper Gill for keeping a clean sheet and Suzanne for leading the team on the pitch and spraying everyone with the Prosecco.
Thank you to Tony Cole for coaching the team, and to all the great support we received on the day. Next match is a tough encounter against Colchester 4s
The Ladies 7s Player of the month proud to be sponsored by Purcell Locksmiths.
