Chelmsford travelled to Sudbury looking to regain their winning form. Chelmsford started off positively and their possession resulted in some early chances, the best being a cross to Connie whose first time effort was only just wide of the post. After Chelmsford had failed to convert their chances, Sudbury had some counter attacks and only great work for the GK Spud and a goalline save from Claudia prevented Sudbury taking the lead. Chelmsford then defended a number of corners which were kept at bay comfortably.
Chelmsford gained possession again and following a wonderful string of passes from one side of the pitch to the other resulted in a goal from Holly Guy after being set up by Kat Hales and Chelmsford were 1-0 going into half time.
As expected, Chelmsford had to weather a bit of a storm in the early stages of the second half but the defence managed Sudbury’s threats well.
After a string of long corners, Marie Kirkham created some space on the wide ride of the circle and a deflected cross wrong-footed their GK and increased Chelmsford’s lead to 2-0.
Chelmsford pushed on and continued to build play up from the back. Two further goals came in quick succession from the two youngsters Holly and Connie.
Sudbury continued to be a threat on the counter attack and won a short corner which was superbly saved by an outstretched foot of Spud.
Chelmsford continued to created chances and were rewarded with a well struck shot from the wide right of the circle by Ally Farrar. Towards the end of the game the team continued to work hard to keep the ball in Sudbury’s half with Georgia Herron’s effort being finished smartly by Kat Hales.
Well done for an excellent team performance.
