The long journey to Paddington was rewarded with a fine win but the “youngsters” made hard work of it.
The EG’s dominated the game in many areas but despite 2 fine goals from Hunter and Wilcox, they gave away 2 soft goals enabling the home side to gain level terms at 2-2. This spurred the EG’s on and after a period of sustained pressure, Ed de Mello capped off a fine day with the winning goal.
Special mention must be made of returning players Ian Hunter and Danny Dempsey who both made fine contributions to the game as did Ralph Thomas who pulled all the strings in the midfield.
