The Mixed season kicked off away at Maldon HC. It was a great performance from all players from the off, exchanging attack after attack with Maldon. Some great defending from the Chelmsford’s team particularly Annie Steingold, winning the ball in dangerous positions. After close efforts Maldon broke the deadlock from a short corner which saw the ball hit the back of the backboard before halftime. Just before the stroke of halftime Nat Davis got a ball to the nose leaving a battle scar to show for her efforts. However this did not stop her as she made her appearance back to the field shortly after. An inspiring team talk from Bryan at halftime lifted out spirts for the second half.

Once again after some chance both ways, with some great defending and dribbling the ball up the field from Nat Davis. Despite these efforts, Maldon caught us on the break and managed to make it 2-0. This did not drop the heads of the Chelmsford squad as Sam Wilkinson managed to pull 1 goal back after she won the battle in the “D” for the ball and knocked the ball into the Maldon goal. Unfortunately, our last push to the Maldon’s defence did not show in the score line as the game finished 2-1.

Player of the Match was Nat Davis with great defensive efforts and for her positive quick recovery after getting a ball to the nose.
