Result: Drew 1-1
Scorers: O Groves
Chelmsford 6th XI hosted Old Loughtonians Loppers at Chelmer Park in a return back to their home ground after last week’s away win. With both teams sitting in the middle of the table and with everything still to play for, each team was looking to secure the maximum points from this fixture.
Chelmsford won the toss and started the game hard, looking to take an early lead and gain the advantage. Old Loughtonians proved to be a tough opposition however and it was obvious that both teams were evenly matched. After a testing start, Chelmsford were able to break the deadlock and open the scoring with a well-placed strike into the back of the net from Owen Groves. Chelmsford were able to maintain that lead as the first half came to a close.
The second half showed no signs of becoming any easier for these teams and through a quick breakaway, Old Loughtonians were able to equalize, once again putting the game on a knife-edge. The rest of the game saw great shots, close chances and superb saves from both teams but neither were ultimately able to break the deadlock and the game ended in a draw, a first for Chelmsford this season.
