The 5th XI got back to winning ways with a 3-2 victory against Thurrock 2nds.

The Chelmsford team began the game well, moving the ball confidently they soon had the Thurrock defence under pressure. A goal from Dan Bacon was followed by an excellent solo effort from Charlie Hingston directly from a Thurrock penalty corner. The visitors responded by going on the attack, creating several scoring chances. Andy Johnson made two important saves. On the stroke of half-time Dan Bacon forced the ball home after throwing himself full-length to reach the ball to extend the lead.

Surprisingly Chelmsford were unable to add further goals in the second half despite having several shots on goal. Thurrock came back into the game with two field goals. Chelmsford were reduced to 10 men after Josh Clark received a yellow card and in the end were glad to hang on for the 3-2 win.
