Chelmsford Ladies 4th XI vs. Southend

Result: Loss 0-1

Chelmsford Ladies 4 XI travelled to Warners Bridge and put in an outstanding first half performance. Huge intensity was demonstrated by all team members, in particular Abigail Burrows who held her own with strength and stamina on the right wing. Southend were no match for the Chelmsford press and rapid pace of ball movement. A single save was required during a debut performance by Cerys Jenkins – our player of the match. With play in their favour, Chelmsford had numerous chances to put the ball in the net but were unable to capitalise.

During the second half, Chelmsford flagged as a result of the unseasonable October English weather. With raised temperatures, two cards were dealt, one to each side. Southend had a lucky result from a short corner which resulted in an own goal. The player in question fully redeemed herself by saving multiple goals on the line and clearing any danger in the defending 23. Teas provided by Southend were welcomed by all after a well-fought match.

Despite the disappointing result, Chelmsford Ladies showed great promise through accurate passing, great ball pace, determination & passion. This is a team to watch during the rest of the season.
