Result: Win 3-0

Scorers: W Daden, S Whetstone, D Smith

A strong Ladies 4 XI had an early start against Havering this Saturday away at Campion School. The game began with fast-paced and accurate passes between the midfield and forward line, with strikes being placed at a well-defended goal. Eventually, Chelmsford managed to get behind in the Havering defensive line and an early lead by Wendy Daden was achieved. Shortly after, Abigail Burrows and Rebecca Creevy (a newcomer to the 4XI side) linked up excellent play down the right-hand side of the pitch ending with a cross, sweeping across the penalty spot, where Sam Whetstone was waiting to score the second goal of the match. With a few breakaways from Havering, a well-structured defence consisting of Ally Hooker, Laura Catchpole and Katherine Coates ensured Chelmsford retained possession and ended the first half on a high.

Starting the second half as strongly as they had finished the first, Chelmsford kept the ball in their attacking half with the whole team acting fast to set their press and intercept the opposition. With many attempts at goal from short corners, the third goal came from a fast-paced ball from Kat Coates into the D with Donna Smith getting a final touch to divert the ball into the goal. A great team effort this week with lots of positive play to take forward into next week’s game vs Old Loughtonians.
