The match began with a great goal from Sophie at 7 minutes. Lots of action at the goal resulted in a short corner, but nothing came out of it. After a number of unlucky misses, Sophie scored another fantastic goal. Brilliant defending by Lily and Jenai put the forwards in a good position for another goal, this time by Jo, despite being in pain. Soon after, an additional goal was created when Lily produced an amazing pass towards Keira, who quickly ran and passed it into the D, with Jo controlling and slapping the ball into the corner of the goal. However, a short corner was given to Colchester towards the end of the first half. Good defence meant that the shot was deflected, but various play just after this led to a goal for Colchester. The half ended with a score of 4-1.
The second half began with a goal for Colchester. As the opposition upped their play (their coach mentioned that they had found their rockets), we began to lose fitness and concentration. A few unlucky misses by the forwards pushed the play into our D, which resulted in another short corner for Colchester, but this one ended with a goal for them. The final score was 4-3 to Chelmsford, a deserved win but hopefully next week we will have an improved 2nd half!
