Result: Won 2-1

Scorers: H Guy x2

Following last week’s win (our first of the season) we were keen to get more points on the board. Chelmsford started well and there was some excellent attacking play involving Nat Davies and Kiera Hornsby. Chelmsford moved the ball quickly and a spell of pressure led to a great move with Ally Farrer setting up Holly Guy for the first goal. Following this Chelmsford continued to apply pressure, having a number of opportunities and penalty corners but did not manage to convert these chances to goals. Folkestone grew in confidence and increased the pressure on Chelmsford and at the brink of half-time scored an equaliser.

Chelmsford came out determined again in the second half and started the stronger of the sides. Excellent runs from Connie Day and Yasmin Gradwick-Light increased the pressure further but it was an early ball from Sam Wilkinson that fed Ally Farrer and Holly Guy through for Chelmsford (and Holly) to score their second. Chelmsford squandered another spell of attacking corners and left ourselves open to Folkestone getting an equaliser. However, strong defending from Caitlin Murray and Charlotte Gordon, along with some fine saves from Jenai Chinoy allowed Chelmsford to hold on to the win. A gutsy performance and a well earned 3 points.
