Result: Loss 0-9

Going into the match Chelmsford knew they would be up against a strong team, with key international Crista Cullen playing in defense. The opening of the match proved to be tough with an immediate goal on the reverse  from Wimbledon’s forward.  After another few goals from short corners with Cullen drag flicking, Chelmsford began to see what we were in for. Despite strong battling from Chelmsford’s defense and some great saves from P Menear keeping us in the game, Wimbledon scored yet another goal making it 0-4 at half time.

Chelmsford were given a tough team talk leaving them determined to go out and leave everything on the pitch. Straight from the off we had a strong peace of play getting the ball into Wimbledon’s D. With pressure from our forwards A Went, N Hull and A Barrett and relentless hard work from midfield J Lazenby and C Ager we managed to keep pressure on Wimbledon’s defense waiting for a chance at goal. With a few turnovers from Wimbledon with K Taylor giving ex Chelmsford Captain Kate Maxey a run for her money it was up to our defenders and defending mids to man mark their players causing great trouble for Wimbledon’s forwards. With some strong defense from B Lund and C Topel we had a exhausting and gritty battle leading to yet another few short corners converted by Cullen.

Despite Chelmsford’s best efforts the game ended 9-0 to Wimbledon, with much learnt ready to work hard for next week.
