All at Chelmsford HC are deeply saddened by the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and offer our sincerest condolences to the whole royal family.
We are mindful that some members/volunteers may wish to opt out of hockey activities this weekend as a mark of respect and, of course, they are free to do so. However, while we await official guidance from the government relating to the period of mourning, we have been advised by England Hockey that there has been no indication that community sport should stop for this weekend, 10/11 September.
Your Management Committee recommends following England Hockey’s guidance on this matter, which is that activities continue as planned this weekend, but that black armbands or black ribbons be used and a 2-minute silence is held before commencement of the activity as a mark of respect.
All non-essential social media activity should be paused for the duration of the period of mourning.
More details are likely to emerge over the coming days. We shall provide further information in due course.
