Men’s 6th XI v. Colchester

adminMatch Reports

Nice to be at home, albeit on the sand pitch yuk. Chelmsford dominated the play against stubborn opposition, giving the ball away too easily through the middle in the first half.

After a stiff talking to by Matt, the team recovered and accelerated up the pitch faster, producing the much needed chances in the ‘D’. The break-through came toward the end of the game when Joe, drove round the back on the right hand side to the base line where he shifted the ball to Ben? Ollie? (one of the twins!), who slammed it powerfully into the bottom right-hand corner for a much deserved win. The points take us to 3rd in the table and hope of promotion.

Unfortunately we had received two green cards in the second-half disrupting the flow somewhat, and more than the team have suffered throughout the season so far.

A good performance overall and everyone put their best effort into it. What a shame the English Rugby team didn’t come away with a similar win in Ireland.

Chelmsford: 1
