Chelmsford Men’s SuperVets vs Surbiton

Result: Won 2-2

Our teen fans met at Hill Valley for this week outing, written by Robert Zemecks and plagiarised by yours truly. With the DeLorean in the shop “Doc” Seager and Marty Wood convey the team at warp speed, via Range Rover and Jaguar to our away fixture against mid table residents Surbiton.

Our teenagers soon got up to up to speed (88mph) flux capacitors ignited catching Surbiton cold, scoring early through Kenny McFly. With constant encouragement from the bench Chelmsford played some excellent hockey through the “teeny boppers” Gore and King combining well, servicing Biff Smith who was more than holding his own against the onslaught of Surbiton stick tackles, our school prefects looking elsewhere. Mark distinguished himself in goal but fell foul to a terrorist raiding party looking for Plutonium (Surbiton forwards) finding the back of the net twice!! Foul we cried, advantage waved the Umps….

Leaving the field 2:1 down our teens looking to Emmitt and Doc for divine guidance; try passing to each other, cut out the long ball, use the width. Chelmsford re took the field for the second half somewhat inspired, searching for the 1.21 gigawatts to send Surbiton back to the future.

Chelmsford re started the second half as they had in the first; developing the necessary voltage pressing high with our “Youngsters” in midfield combining to worry the Surbiton backs. A superb inter passing play initiated with Bruce and finished by Ed, levelled the score line. The game then lost some of its shape with injuries and forced rotation, our defence under constant pressure in the last 10 mins of the game, the Surbiton forwards missing the goal on both posts, fortunately unable to convert penalty corners.

The game finished 2:2 with a point shared, very useful away draw with the table so tight

So it’s Back to the Future Part 2 for OL’s next week where we need to be at full strength, game faces on Fellas.
