EHB Cup – round 1

Result: Won 14-0

Scorers: (too many to count!)

Lovely autumn day for the first round against Folkestone travelling from the South Coast. Chelmsford started strongly pressing high creating a number of chances on the Folkestone goal quickly converting 3 goals to take the upper hand. Further pressure resulted in a number of short corners, which despite the best efforts of the Folkestone goal keeper were converted by Nancy Hebron and Yasmine Gradwick-Light.

Chelmsford continued to move the ball quickly and accurately with excellent support play from Frankie Harley and Ellie Benfield. This additional pressure resulted in a succession of well taken chances with goals from Alex Went and Nicole Hull and a half time score of 11-0 to Chelmsford.

Chelmsford started the second half with a much changed side and the sporting gesture of having their backs playing forward and their attack in defence. Chelmsford continued to rotate their bench and continued to dominate the game again with the Folkestone keeper keeping the score line respectable for the second half. Both Lucy Bales and Annie Steingold were unlucky not to convert a number of chances underlying their defensive nature. Of the 3 goals scored in the second half, Ellie Benfield’s slap from an airborne pass was the pick of the chances.

Chelmsford finished strongly and entertained the Folkestone team with sandwiches and cakes after the game.  Final score 14-0.
