Record Breakers!!!

Chelmsford Hockey Club are officially Guinness World Records Title Holders!

Last summer, Chelmsford HC took on the ‘Longest Marathon Playing Field Hockey’ attempt and broke the record!

After 56 hours, 18 minutes and 45 seconds of continuous hockey, 32 players stumbled off the pitch completely deprived of sleep but full of pride.

This week, after receiving official ratification, Chelmsford HC are thrilled to hold the GWR title which can be viewed on the website: https://goo.gl/OJqmnx

Thanks to the brilliant determination and willingness of each player, as well as the goodwill of 50-60 helpers, including umpires, witnesses, physiotherapists and many more, the record attempt, which began on the evening of Friday 1st July 2016 was set at 2am on Monday morning!

The event was completely supported throughout the community and could only be completed due to our generous supports, headlined by CCTV Aware.

In October, GWR attempt organiser Sam Wilkinson and some of the 32 players presented Farleigh Hospice with a cheque for £2,610. The charity is close to the hearts of many at the club, and we hope to raise more in the future for such a worthwhile cause.

We are now eagerly awaiting the certificate in the post. This weekend will see an impromptu pizza social at Chelmer Park and the official Guinness World Record celebration party is on Saturday 18th March.

We cannot give enough thanks to the local companies who came forward to provide for the players throughout the gruelling 56 hours. Luxury used cars company RS Cars Ltd and specialist print, digital and UK based tax and wealth boutique Alpha to Omega Business Solutions Ltd sponsored 2 shirts for each of the 32 players. TFW Group kindly agreed to print the programmes, whilst the renowned local Indian restaurant Yasmin Brasserie provided the match ball. Stepping Stones, a local and professional landscaping company were amongst our sponsors and we are also very grateful to the following companies who sponsored hours throughout the event: Elm House Vets, The Cricketers, The Horse & Groom, Cooper Paul Chartered Accountants, Flexible HR Ltd, Peter Wilkinson Photography, Past Properties, Manor House Osteopath, Silent Voices by Johnathon Toy, Grays and Sons Pub Company, Chelmsford Dance Centre and Personal Training with Kristy Ellis.
